12月2日（日）に行われた神奈川地区15クラブによる新人スピーチ対抗戦で、見事私たち横浜オーシャンTMCのメンバーOさんが優勝しました！
「友達100人できるかな」というタイトルで、自分と異なる年齢の友達、20代・30代、もっと上の80歳、90歳、100歳(!)の友達ができれば、人生はもっと豊かになるはず！という素晴らしいスピーチでした。
トーストマスターズでは今回の新人戦のようなスピーチコンテストが開催され、春には日本語・英語のスピーチコンテストが公式戦として開催されます！
こうしたスピーチコンテストに参加することで、日ごろのプレゼンテーションなどと大きく違った、人を感動させたり、新たな気づきを与えたり、人を奮い立たせるといった、人前で話す技術を大きく伸ばすことができます。
また、この日はメンバーのTさんもコンテスト出場者へのインタビュアーとして参加！楽しい質問でコンテストを盛り上げていました！こうしたイベントを盛り上げるスキルを磨ける機会も、コンテスト運営に参加することで得られます！
コンテストの出場へ向けた練習会では、クラブメンバーからのアドバイスや励ましが力になったと、Oさんも語っていました。同じ目的を持って集まる仲間と高めあえるのは、トーストマスターズのコミュニティの素晴らしいところだと思います。
Oさんだけでなく、新しく入会したメンバーも、クラブでのスピーチの実践や、仲間からの親身で建設的なアドバイスで、話し方をどんどんブラッシュアップしています。
みなさんも、たくさん人前で話す練習ができ、たくさん失敗から学べる、支えてくれる仲間がいる場を作ってみませんか？

On Sunday, December 2nd, one of our members from Yokohama Ocean TMC won first place in the Newcomer Speech Competition among 15 clubs in the Kanagawa area!
The title of the speech was "Can I have 100 friends?" He talked about how his life would be richer if he could have friends of different ages. If you can have friends in your 20s, 30s, 80s, 90s, 100s(!), your life will be richer! That was a wonderful speech.
Toastmasters holds speech contests like this newcomer contest, and in the spring, speech contests in Japanese and English will be held as official contests!
By participating in these speech contests, you can greatly develop your public speaking skills, which are very different from your everyday presentations, such as impressing people, giving new insights, and inspiring others.
Also on this day, member Ms. T participated as an interviewer for the contestants! She asked fun questions and made the contest more exciting! By participating in the contest management, you will have the opportunity to hone your skills to make the event more exciting!
Mr. O. also said that the advice and encouragement he received from club members during the practice sessions leading up to the contest gave him a lot of strength. I think it is a wonderful thing about the Toastmasters community that we can improve ourselves with people who share the same goals.
Not only Mr. O., but also new members improve their speaking skills by practicing their speeches in the club and receiving kind and constructive advice from their peers.
