Today's meeting began with TM President K.E.'s opening remarks, delivered with a beaming smile, setting a bright and positive tone for the session.

 

The next officer nomination

TM M.W introduced the next officer nomination, and put the link for the volunteering and recommendation.

 

The opening of today’s meeting

TM H.K. opened the meeting with a warm greeting and shared a seasonal reflection about the end of cherry blossom season in Yokohama. He recalled enjoying hanami (flower viewing) along the Meguro River, a tradition he has followed since working near that area. Despite the cherry blossoms being past full bloom, he still appreciated the moment with a beer in hand, reinforcing that Sakura Hanami is a cherished spring tradition in Japan.

 

 

Role Introduction

During the role introduction segment, the Timer, Vote Counter, Grammarian & Ah-Counter, and Recorder each explained their responsibilities thoroughly and accurately, ensuring a strong foundation for the meeting. Their professionalism greatly contributed to the success of the session.

 

And today, because we have plenty of time, TM H.K. assigned the members to elaborate on the roles randomly. It’s a creative one.

 

Prepared Speech

 

Today, two passionate and creative speakers delivered outstanding speeches.

 

 

Speech #1: TM S.W. 「When you give up, that's when the game is over.」

 

Toastmaster S.W opened her speech with a quote from Slam Dunk:
“When you give up, that’s when the game is over.”
This line deeply inspired her as a young student and led her to join her junior high school’s basketball team. Although she quit playing in high school, she reconnected with basketball years later through her niece and the local B.League team in her hometown, Shizuoka.

She shared three reasons why she finds basketball so appealing today:

  1. Exciting Entertainment – B.League games feel like live events with DJs, MCs, and close-up action, making them accessible and fun even for beginners.
  2. Community-Based Support – Instead of being owned by a single company, teams are supported by local sponsors, governments, and businesses, allowing deeper local engagement.
  3. Inclusive Involvement – Anyone can contribute to basketball—not just athletes. Fans, volunteers, and staff (like her friend working in social media) all play vital roles.

TM S.W ended by encouraging everyone to attend a B.League game—especially those in Yokohama, where the season runs from October to May. Her core message:
Even if you’re not good at playing, you can still be part of basketball. Don’t give up.

 

Speech #2: TM M.W. 「ムカつくあいつ実はあなた」

 

TM M.W., shared a story about a recent frustration with their cousin, Yumi-chan, who frequently sent negative, self-deprecating messages. Despite offering support, TM M.W. eventually snapped, telling Yumi-chan to stop complaining and relying on others for emotional relief. Upon reflecting, TM M.W. realized their frustration stemmed from their own suppressed feelings of vulnerability. They recognized their reaction was a defense mechanism called "projection," where they unconsciously projected their own feelings onto others. TM M.W. now understands the importance of mutual support and has learned to accept Yumi-chan's negativity without frustration, recognizing it as a reflection of their own inner struggles.

 

 

Table topics (TM T.K)

 

TM T.K. briefly introduced the topic of Shūkatsu, Japan’s unique job-hunting process. He explained that in Japan, the fiscal and school year begins in April, and around this time, it’s common to see young employees heading to training camps, which he still found somewhat strange. He described how university students typically start internships in their junior year, submit "entry sheets" in March, and then undergo interviews starting in June. Those who are accepted receive job offers in October. He invited the audience to share their thoughts or personal experiences related to this topic.

He hold this session successfully.

 

 

Table topics (TM A.K)

 

TM A.K kicked off the table topics session by introducing the theme of spring, a season of renewal and new beginnings. He connected this to both the natural transition from cherry blossoms to greenery and the start of the fiscal year in Japan. He encouraged participants to reflect on their personal experiences related to spring, such as graduations, entrance ceremonies, and changes in their lives. The host framed the conversation around how spring is a time for new opportunities and transformations.

 

Evaluation

 

In the evaluation session that followed, the excellent evaluators provided each speaker with specific and heartfelt feedback.

 

 

TM S.W.への論評: TM Y.K.

 

In today's evaluation session, TM Y.K. evaluated TM S.Wspeech. He praised the speaker's cheerful vocal delivery, noting it was uplifting but lacking in vocal variety. Despite this, the consistent tone created a positive atmosphere. TM Y.K.highlighted the speaker's effective vocal variety when explaining the structure, especially in the Zoom setting.

However, he suggested two areas for improvement:

-       First, he would have liked more detail on why the speaker stopped playing basketball after high school and what motivated him to return.

-       Second, he wanted to hear more about the speaker’s future plans as a basketball fan or volunteer, beyond just attending games.

Overall, TM Y.K. praised the speech but encouraged adding more personal background and future to make the storytelling more impactful.

 

TM M.W.への論評: TM K.L.

 

Evaluation Summary for TM K.L.'s Speech:

Strengths:

  1. Engaging Title: The title was intriguing, drawing in the audience with its playful tone.
  2. Relatable Topic: The speech centered around human emotions and daily experiences, making it easy for everyone to relate.
  3. Effective Visuals: The visuals were clear and complemented the message well, helping to keep the audience's attention.

Areas for Improvement:

  1. Slide Layout: The speaker's face sometimes overlapped with text on the slides, causing distraction and confusion.
  2. Time Management: The speaker slightly went over time, so paying closer attention to the timer will help in future speeches.
  3. Slide Numbering: Including slide numbers would have added clarity and helped the audience follow along better.

Conclusion: The speech was engaging and well-delivered, with some minor improvements needed in slide layout and time management for a smoother experience.

 

Today’s meeting was filled with learning, inspiration, and heartfelt participation from each member. The way everyone came together to support and motivate each other embodied the true spirit of Toastmasters. We are all looking forward to the next meeting!

 

 

今日の会議は、TM K.E. 会長の笑顔での開会の挨拶から始まり、明るく前向きな雰囲気で進行されました。

会議の開会
TM H.K. は、横浜の桜の季節の終わりを振り返りながら、温かい挨拶で会議を開会しました。桜の花が満開を過ぎても、ビールを片手にその瞬間を楽しんだことを語り、桜の花見が日本の春の伝統であることを再確認しました。

役割紹介
役割紹介の際、タイマー、投票カウンター、文法監査、アー・カウンター、レコーダーがそれぞれの役割を明確に説明し、会議の基盤をしっかりと作りました。そのプロフェッショナリズムが会議の成功に貢献しました。

今日の会議では時間がたっぷりあったため、TM H.K. はメンバーにランダムに役割を詳述するように指示しました。これは創造的な試みでした。

準備スピーチ

今日、2人の情熱的で創造的なスピーカーが素晴らしいスピーチを発表しました。

スピーチ #1: TM S.W. 「諦めた時、それがゲーム終了の瞬間」

TM S.W. は「諦めた時、それがゲーム終了の瞬間」というスラムダンクの名言を引用し、その言葉が彼女にどれほど影響を与えたかを語りました。中学校のバスケットボールチームに参加したきっかけや、高校時代に辞めた後、姪や地元のBリーグを通じて再びバスケットボールに関わったエピソードをシェアしました。彼女はバスケットボールの魅力を3つ挙げて説明し、最後にみんなにBリーグの試合を観に行くことを勧めました。

スピーチ #2: TM M.W. 「ムカつくあいつ実はあなた」

TM M.W. は、いとこであるユミちゃんとの最近のフラストレーションを共有しました。ユミちゃんがよくネガティブなメッセージを送ってきて、それに対してTM M.W. は次第に感情的になり、彼女に対して怒りを感じました。しかし、反省した結果、TM M.W. はその反応が自分自身の抑えられた感情の投影であることに気づき、相手のネガティブさを受け入れる重要性を学びました。

テーブルトピックス (TM T.K.)

TM T.K. は、日本独特の就職活動「就活」について簡単に紹介しました。4月に始まる日本の新年度に関連して、大学生がインターンシップを開始し、エントリーシートを提出し、面接を経て内定を得るプロセスを説明しました。このテーマに関連する参加者の経験を共有するよう促しました。

テーブルトピックス (TM A.K.)

TM A.K. は春をテーマにしたテーブルトピックスを導入しました。春が新しい始まりの季節であることを自然界の桜から新緑への移り変わりや日本の年度始まりに結びつけ、参加者に自分自身の春にまつわる経験を振り返るよう促しました。

論評

論評セッションでは、素晴らしい論評者が各スピーカーに具体的で心のこもったフィードバックを提供しました。

TM S.W.への論評: TM Y.K.

TM Y.K. は、TM S.W. のスピーチを評価し、明るい声の届け方を賞賛しましたが、声のバリエーションにもう少し工夫が必要だと指摘しました。

また、高校時代にバスケットを辞めた理由と再び始めた動機についてもっと詳しく話してほしいとの意見がありました。

さらに、今後のバスケットボールファンとしての活動についても聞きたかったと述べました。

TM M.W.への評価: TM K.L.
良かった点:

  1. 魅力的なタイトル: イントリゲイングなタイトルが聴衆を引き込む効果がありました。
  2. 共感できるテーマ: 人間の感情や日常の出来事をテーマにしており、誰もが共感できる内容でした。
  3. 効果的なビジュアル: スライドがメッセージを補完し、聴衆の関心を引きました。

改善点:

  1. スライドレイアウト: スライドの中でスピーカーの顔とテキストが重なり、やや混乱を招いた部分がありました。
  2. 時間管理: 少し時間をオーバーしてしまったため、今後はタイマーに注意を払うことが必要です。
  3. スライド番号: スライド番号を加えることで、よりわかりやすくなったかもしれません。

 

結論: 魅力的でよく届けられたスピーチであり、スライドレイアウトや時間管理の改善があれば、よりスムーズな進行が期待できます。

今日の会議は学びやインスピレーションに満ちており、各メンバーの心温まる参加が光る素晴らしい会でした。次回の会議が楽しみです。

  第 345 回通常例会（ ZOOM& 横浜市技能文化会館） 2025 年 5 月 25 日   2025 年 5 月 25 日、横浜オーシャン TMC の来期役員選挙＆通常例会が開催されました。 ZOOM と横浜市技能文化会館のハイブリッド例会でしたが、来期（ 7 月～）の役員選挙が実施される事もあり、久しぶりに会場参加するメンバーも多く、和気あいあいとした雰囲気の中、例会が始まりました。 冒頭にて、会長 E 藤による先日の全国大会関連の報告とゲスト紹介の後、今朝のトーストマスターの W 松さんによる進行がスタートしました。今朝の言葉はＫ山さんより紹介され、「二極化」（日本語）と「 Breathtaking 」（英語）です。   前半は役員選挙のセッションです。 来期役員の候補者について、応援スピーチと立候補スピーチが行われ、来期役員の顔ぶれが正式に決定しました。どのスピーチも心のこもった素晴らしい内容で、来期のクラブ運営への期待感が高まりました！   The second half was an educational session. The prepared speech was TM K-ga and her speech title was " いつもとは違う道 ". She has just been transferred to Tokyo and started commuting. She is trying to vary her daily commute by walking and exploring different routes. Her speech project was "Managing a Difficult Audience" so during her speech, some of the audience started talking on their own and other interruptions occurred, but she responded appropriately to the troublesome audiences' comments and got through them well. ...

第 338 回 インハウススピーチコンペ例会 / Hybrid In-house Speech competition Regular Meeting No.338

本格的な寒さが続く 2 月前半。インハウスコンテストというコンテスタントを決める特別な例会に、全部で 13 名が参加しました！   本日の TMOM （司会）は S さん。雪や寒さの影響で突然の変更があったにもかかわらず、事前調整から当日の進行まで、スムーズに実施してくださいました！   本日は英語セッションからスタート。本日はいつもの通常例会と異なり、コンテスタント候補によるスピーチからの、参加メンバーからの論評・コメント、日本語と英語両方のテーブルトピックスの流れで実施しました。   コンテスタント候補によるスピーチは、 Toastmasters 暦ベテランの K さん。 Donation をテーマに、ご自身の海外での経験も交えたとても感慨深いスピーチをしてくださいました。普段日本に住んでいると、考え方や目にする機会の少なさから実行することが少ない「 Donation 」について、聞いているオーディエンスが立ち止まって考える機会になる、とても素敵なスピーチでした。   英語スピーチの後は、日本語によるスピーチ。こちらは経験豊富な S さんによる、「禁足地」というなんともおどろおどろしいテーマのスピーチ。日本に住んでいれば要所要所で接する機会も多い、神社や神様についてのスピーチでした。最初はどんな怖い話が展開されるのやら、とびくびくしていましたが、最終的に心がスッと軽くなって、日本の歴史や考え方の 礎についても 知ることができる、学びの多いスピーチでした。   横浜オーシャンズクラブは、様々なバックグラウンドや知見を持ったメンバーが参加していることもあり、スピーチを聞く中でも 自身 の気づきになることが数多くあって、「今週はどんな気づきがあるのかな？」と毎回楽しみになります！   今回は、英語・日本語ともに、スピーチのすぐ後に他の参加者からの論評やコメントを実施。いつもであれば誰が論評を行うか？が事前に決まっていますが、今回はその場で当てられて論評をするという形式に。みなさん、突然当てられたにも関わらず、おのおのの視点から的確なコメントをしており、この時間もとても勉強になります。   テーブルトピックスは、英語と日本語の二言語でおこないました。担当は S さん。いつもテーブルトピックのテーマ出しを...
